Further, in the March 28, 2006, issue of the Canadian Medical Association Journal, researchers documented three cases of advanced cancers where patients had "unexpectedly long survival times after receiving high-dose vitamin C therapy" They concluded that "the role of intravenous vitamin C therapy in cancer treatment should be reassessed."
Another Vitamin C Backer
Pauling was not alone in supporting high-dose vitamin C therapy. One of the early advocates of this kind of treatment was a physician named Robert Cathcart. |

With such a profound result, the CTFA recognized the opportunity for its industry to help more women maintain self-esteem and face cancer treatment with greater confidence."
The American Cancer Society enthusiastically joined the effort along with the National Cosmetology Association, and "Look Good ... Feel Better" flourished across the nation, with programs now in all 50 states.

There is no other cancer treatment that can even closely compete with the body's own healing mechanism, which we unfortunately label as disease. Cancer is not a disease; it is a very unusual, but apparently highly efficient mechanism of survival and self-protection.
We ought to give the most developed and complex system in the universe—the human body—a little more credit than it has so far received, and trust that it knows perfectly well how to conduct its own affairs, even under the grimmest of circumstances. |
| In 1997 Americans made 627 million visits to practitioners of alternative medicine and spent $17 billion of their own money to pay for alternative therapies, including cancer treatment. It is estimated, by none other than the Harvard Medical School, that one out of every two persons in the United States between the ages of 35 and 49 used at least one alternative therapy in 1997. In Australia, 57 percent of the population now use some form of alternative treatment. In Germany 46 percent do, and in France 49 percent do. |
| The discoveries that melatonin inhibits cancer growth and that light inhibits melatonin production are monumental with regard to cancer treatment and cancer prevention. According to Blask, melatonin is a fundamental signal that relays rhythmic information about environmental cycles of light and darkness to all the cells in the body, including cancer cells.
He discovered that increased dietary intake of linoleic acid (a common polyunsaturated fatty acid) stimulates cancer growth rates because cancer cells take up and metabolize linoleic acid. |
| These root causes should be the focus of every cancer treatment, yet most oncologists typically ignore them. Constant conflicts, guilt and shame, for example, can easily paralyze the body's most basic functions, and lead to the growth of a cancerous tumor.
After having seen hundreds of cancer patients over a period of two decades, I began to recognize a certain pattern of thinking, believing and feeling that was common to most of them. |
| If I contracted cancer, I would never go to a standard cancer treatment center. Cancer victims who live far from such centers have a chance. ~ Professor Georges Mathe, French cancer specialist. => ...As a chemist trained to interpret data, it is incomprehensible to me that physicians can ignore the clear evidence that chemotherapy does much, much more harm than good. ~ Alan C Nixon, PhD, former president of the American Chemical Society. => Most cancer patients in this country die of chemotherapy. Chemotherapy does not eliminate breast, colon, or lung cancers. |

Happily, about six months to a year after cancer treatment ends, hair generally grows back.
Sudden shedding can also be a delayed sign of a recent high fever or an indication that you're currently fighting a viral, bacterial, or fungal infection. But in these cases, you're likely to have other signs, such as itching, skin irritation, fever, or pain. It can also be an early warning sign of a hormonal disorder, especially thyroid disease (see Appendix I) or hypopituitarism; indeed, almost any hormonal imbalance can cause hair shedding. |

It puzzles me why the simple concept 'sugar feeds cancer' can be so dramatically overlooked as part of a comprehensive cancer treatment plan. Of the 4 million cancer patients being treated in America today, hardly any are offered any scientifically guided nutrition therapy beyond being told to 'just eat good foods.' I believe many cancer patients would have a major improvement in their outcome if they controlled the supply of cancer's preferred fuel, glucose."

Modern cancer treatment is an effort in futility.
If billions of cancer cells could be killed off at one time, this would create an enormous mass of cellular debris that would clog lymph glands, create inflammation and infection. This would be counterproductive.
Does surgery accelerate the progression of cancer?
Researchers report that tumor removal is followed by accelerated growth of recurrent tumors and metastases. This is likely due to growth factors that are promoted during the wound-healing process. |
| Side effects of Tamoxifen
How did Tamoxifen ever get approved as a cancer treatment drug? For one thing, it was initially confined to be used on those with advanced cases of cancer following surgery, chemotherapy and radiation (if that isn't an admission those other conventional treatments don't work, I don't know what is.) Most likely, the Food & Drug Administration was coaxed into approving this drug for this group of patients because of the risks of mortality facing post-treatment breast cancer patients. |
| Despite the futility of cancer treatment, patients will fight for their right to receive it. There is no arguing with a dying cancer patient.
Doctors ready to oblige
Cancer doctors are more than willing to oblige the patient's demand for treatment, and any mention of the failings of treatment are withheld so as not to demoralize the patient any further. This is a merry-go-round I hope my loved ones never have to get on.
Cancer patients generally have no idea the treatment offered to them is of little or no value. |

Glyconutrients are powerful compounds—ongoing research is looking at the value of glyconutrients in cancer treatment, but that's a whole other story.) The aloe vera gel has all the active medicinal sugars (glyconutrients) mentioned above.

The gel reduces inflammation when applied to the skin. It also has antibacterial effects. It's great as a skin salve, serving as a mild anesthetic and relieving pain, itching, and swelling.

Chemoprevention is different from cancer treatment, since chemoprevention's goal is to lower the incidence of cancer rather than to treat existing cancers. After they have been identified in foods, these chemopreventive agents are generally extracted so that they can be adrninistered more conveniently and at a standardized dosage.
An advantage of green tea extract and other nutrients over pharmaceutical drugs in cancer therapy is that the nutrients are generally less potent and can be used safely over a much wider range of dosages, so they are safer to use. |

For example, Beau's lines are sometimes seen in people who've had a recent heart attack, surgery, infection, or cancer treatment. After treatment or recovery, the nails usually grow back normally.
These ridges sometimes occur on the nails of people with chronic conditions as well. They can, for example, signal Raynaud's disease (see Blue Nails, above, and Chapter 7) or pemphigus (see Pitted Nails, above).

I also suggest that all these cancer treatment centers donate 100 percent of their profits to cancer prevention campaigns. It's wrong to profit from a woman's cancer, is it not? If these businesses really cared about stopping cancer, they'd refuse to profit from the disease and, instead, use the money to help stop cancer in future generations of women (and men, for that matter).
What an idea, huh? That these ultra-wealthy non-profits and billion-dollar corporations might spend some money on teaching women how to prevent cancer... |

A new family of calcium-lowering cancer treatment drugs, it turns out, is causing an upsurge in cases of osteonecrosis of the jaw, which hasn't been seen since the days of phossy jaw in the nineteenth-century match industry.15 A novel agricultural chemical growth regulator, hydrogen cyanamide, is responsible for outbreaks of illness, in part because it acts just like the old alcohol abstinence drug disulfiram (Antabuse), blocking the body's breakdown of ethanol and leading to the buildup of a toxin causing nausea, vomiting, and, in severe cases, heart rhythm irregularities. |

They refuse to look at the chemical toxicities that are ever-present in the environment, and instead put their efforts into cancer treatment (because that's where the money is). Conventional medicine makes money in chemotherapy or cutting out tumors. There's no money to be made in preventing cancers.
There's a whole lot of money to be made in covering up the truth about toxic chemicals, however. Cancer organizations accept millions of dollars from sunscreen manufacturers, for example. |

The size of a tumor is not a measure of the degree of cancer that exists on a patient's body, and shrinking a tumor is not a meaningful measure of a cancer treatment's success.
The rapid rise in depression, ADHD and other mental or "behavioral" disorders is so large that it can only be explained by either an infectious epidemic (in which case the CDC should be involved) or rampant disease mongering where drug companies invent diseases and push them onto children and adults in order to sell more drugs. |
