A complete discussion of the fraud in modern cancer treatments would require another article entirely, but the short version is that the cancer industry has no interest whatsoever in actually curing or preventing cancer and, instead, generates windfall profits through ongoing cancer treatments that only harm or kill patients. Chemotherapy, radiation and surgery for cancer are largely medical frauds, and mammography is actually an insidious recruiting system that scares women into unnecessary treatments for cancers they often don't even have. |

And most of us over the age of 40 are very concerned about preventing cancer, stroke, and heart disease as we grow older. Well, food synergy is about getting the biggest health bang for your buck by pairing various foods and nutrients in meals and snacks. Think of it this way: Have you ever eaten a meal that was high in fiber and contained a sensible serving of protein and found that you actually ate less than usual but still felt satisfied? Have you ever noticed that when you include lots of calcium- and vitamin D-rich foods in your diet, your PMS symptoms seem to vanish? |

These people have a responsibility to know the basics when it comes to preventing cancer with nutrition, and when they remain utterly ignorant of these simple concepts, they post a dire risk to public health. Anyone foolish enough to follow their advice will only end up a victim of chemotherapy, radiation or useless cancer surgeries.
And why do I get so riled up about this topic? Because black women are needlessly dying of a disease that's simple to prevent, that's why! |

Green tea extract also offers the promise of preventing cancer by inhibiting the activation of carcinogens. A study published in the journal Food & Chemical Toxicology found that rats administered the equivalent of a human dose of green tea had a lower risk of cancer because "the anticarcinogenic effect of green tea facilitated the metabolism of chemical carcinogens into inactive, readily excretable products."6

The U.S. government has no interested in protecting its citizens from disease. The American diet is notoriously low in fiber, a substance which plays several important roles in preventing cancer. Higher fiber intake increases stool bulk, shortens the time food and digestive products stay in the colon, and helps remove various digestive toxins. Vegetables and fruits are excellent sources of fiber. Red beet fiber in particular has been shown to lower bowel cancer risk. |

Most regulatory agencies responsible for public safety cite preventing cancer and lowering risk as the major criteria in limiting exposure to potentially toxic substances. In general, wide margins of safety are adopted for safe doses and toxic or cancer-causing doses. The differential recognizes wide variances in human sensitivity to various cancer-causing agents, and also takes into consideration the problem of accumulation and long-term exposure to known toxins. |

The complexity of the contradictions was overwhelmingly interesting and intriguing. Thus began a journey that will forever change the way we view health.

Both sulforaphane and broccoli deserve special consideration in the context of any strategy aimed at preventing cancer through diet. This interest is justified by results obtained over the last decade indicating that sulforaphane greatly accelerates the body's ability to flush out toxic substances linked to the development of cancer. Far from being an isolated phenomenon, the increase in detoxifying ability due to sulforaphane sharply reduces the occurrence, the number, and the size of mammary tumours caused by certain carcinogenic substances in rats or mice. |

Meanwhile, the GST gene codes for several types of glutathiones-transferases, enzymes that play important roles in preventing cancer. Glutathione-S-transferases function as antioxidants that protect against free-radical damage, and they also aid the body's breakdown of hazardous chemicals. However, researchers have estimated that half of white and about one-third of African Americans in the United States have defective versions of the GST gene. In one study, researchers found that the GST gene was absent in four out of five women with gliomas, a type of brain cancer. |

CHEK2 is involved in recognizing and repairing DNA damage and preventing cancer. However, mutations in the CHEK2 gene have been identified in 4.2 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer and who also had a strong family predisposition of developing the disease. While the CHEK2 mutation modestly increases the risk of breast cancer in women, men with the mutated gene have a tenfold greater risk of developing breast cancer.
Again, the vast majority of breast-cancer cases have not been associated with any specific type of genetic mutation or defect. |

When shopping for walnuts, one can purchase them shelled or unshelled, purchased in bulk or prepackaged. When deciding, the unshelled walnuts should feel heavy for their size, not appear rubbery or shriveled. Shelled walnuts should not be cracked, pierced, or stained to ensure they are not moldy. |

The authors stressed that "elevated levels of IGF-1 in the circulation are associated with increased risks for several common cancers—(and) the importance of implementing dietary interventions to reduce IGF levels with the goal of preventing cancer." However, the authors made no reference to and appeared unaware of avoidable cancer risks from consumption of rBGH milk contaminated with high levels of bioactive IGF-1 (see Table at end of chapter).

| In conclusion, Yu and Rohan emphasized "the feasibility and validity of implementing dietary interventions to reduce IGF levels with the goal of preventing cancer."
However, the authors appear unaware of the fact that, since 1984, most of the nation's milk supply has been contaminated with excess IGF levels resulting from the injection of cows with recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH) to increase milk yields (3). Moreover, a substantial proportion of IGF in milk from rBGH-injected cows is in a more bioactive unbound protein-free form than in IGF in milk from untreated cows (4). |

This biological activity can be extraordinarily helpful (in preventing cancer, for example), and the beneficial effects of these phytochemicals occurs in concert with the full spectrum of nutrients found in each plant. In other words, you can't isolate one phytochemical and expect it to have the health benefits of the whole plant. Studies on lycopene, for example, show it to be of limited value against prostate cancer when used in isolation, but when the entire tomato is consumed, prostate cancer risks plummet. |

Compounds in the aqueous portion of the mango include not only water-soluble nutrients, such as vitamin C, but also valuable flavonoid compounds, which appear to contribute to the mango's anticancer effect. Furthermore, there is human evidence that demonstrates that mangoes can help fight cancer. |

What happened to keeping one's breasts healthy so that you don't have to cut anything out for the sake of preventing cancer down the road? What happened to that kind of thinking? I mean, isn't medicine based on, "First, do no harm"? Isn't that the opening line of the Hippocratic Oath? Aren't doctors supposed to be helping patients, not slicing them up? "Doctor, my arm hurts." "Don't worry, we can remove it." Is that what medicine has come to? |

Of course, selenium is a very important mineral for preventing Alzheimer's disease, preventing cancer and many other disorders. It's also a great anti-viral mineral.
The point of this is that, when we read in a book that Kale is a great source of calcium, or that broccoli is a good source of selenium, we really have to imagine an asterisk behind that statement. Kale may be a good source of calcium if there was calcium present in the soil in which it was grown. Broccoli may be a good source of selenium, but only if selenium was present in the soil. |

It plays a role in preventing cancer, especially liver cancer, and may actually target carcinogens, make them water-soluble, and then help escort them from the body. Green Tea: A Cancer-fighting Balm for the Soul
It would be impossible to adequately discuss the concept of preventing cancer through diet without at some point giving the spotlight over to green tea. Much more than a simple hot beverage, green tea has become over the centuries a highly integral part of life and customs in Asian countries; from a gastronomic perspective, and as an element of hospitality and ritual, yes, but also as an essential substance in the prevention and treatment of disease. |

In other words, when it comes to preventing cancer, the cancer industry is silent. Why should they say anything, anyway? If they teach women how to prevent breast cancer, they lose customers. Besides, the scheme they're running right now is working brilliantly. They maximize revenues and profits by preventing prevention and waiting for women to get cancer, then treating them with high-profit pharmaceuticals, radiation and surgical procedures. |
